Pre-Bombhunters Apsara Dance Rehearsal - November 20th, 2005 - CACO Youth Dance Group

Apsara Dance - At one time, the Apsara was performed in courtyards of the royal palace, where the elegance and gracefull movements were only seen by that of royalty. The art and elegance of this dance nearly lost during the Khmer Rouge and kept alive by the survivors and those inspired to carry on this well known and respected classical dance.

Below are some pictures of the Cambodian-American Community of Oregon's Dance Group practicing the Apsara dance in preparation for the Bombhunters documentary film scheduled for December 10th, 2005 at the Hollywood Theatre. Three dancers in addition to maintaining a 4.0 grade point average in high school, volunteering, and school activities, they devote about 4 hours per week dedicated to learning the Apsara dance. Two adult dancers, one an Engineer from Intel, and another, a former career woman who now dedicates her time to be a full time mom and volunteer dance instructor. Two additional dance instructors (who were once a student themeselves in respected dance institutions in Cambodia) also volunteer many hours of the week passing on a knowledge that was at one time an active part of their lives, to the younger generation. Here's a classic example of passing on the knowledge from mother to daughter. Beauty that words can not describe better than this picture here. Thank you dedicated dance teachers and students.
