Dear Community,
I am proud to say that as a community we raised almost $800 for BOBism. On behalf of the youth group, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the following groups and individuals for their generous donations:
Vuthy Tep & Mareth Tan
Mealea Tinkinnal & Khmer Krom
Chanly Bob & Sophorn Cheang
Michael & Melanie Lim
Dr. Franklin Young & Family
And of course the rest of the CACO community for their unwavering support.
Let us not forget MTI and Dr. Canfield and his team for giving us this opportunity.
And also Foursquare Children of Promise for hosting us during our stay.
And my apologies for anyone I left out or names I misspelled.
In the 15 days we were in Cambodia, we treated 5+ orphanages and 200+ orphans/adults. The services the team provided were:
Prophylaxis to all patients
Fillings
Extractions
Tooth Reconstruction
Roots Canals
Stainless Steel Crowns
With the 785$ we spent:
$45 on 200 Hacky Sacks, one for each patient
$45 on 6 Badminton sets and 12 Birdies, two for each orphanage
$20 on Soccer balls and drawing materials, distributed to children to play
as they waited
$70 for a special Curry dinner for the orphanage we stayed at
$300 to the staff, older orphans who assisted us and helped make this possible
$200 to a Siem Reap dance program (who we found out were orphans)
$105 to Foursquare Children of Promise to use to further their programs
Due to the fact that we went as a medical team under MTI and worked with Foursquare Children of Promise, there were limits to what we could and could not distribute to the children, for example cash and certain foods.
MTI donated the equipment for our clinic as well as balloons and puppets for the children.
We also gave each patient a toothbrush and other toys that were donated from various sources.
Kelly, one of the team members, donated soccer balls.
The older orphans helped us in assisting, sanitation, tech support, and translation. These are bright kids!
Once again I'd like to thank the community for making this possible for Sidney and I. As a team, we made a huge impact in the lives of many people. Dr Canfield and his team were absolutely incredible to watch at work. CACO does make a difference. The evidence is in the smiles of the 238 Cambodians whose lives we touched.
Sincerely,
Davin Mao
